No. Most consumer gun safe fire ratings are based on controlled furnace tests that do not replicate the heat intensity or thermal transfer rates of a real residential fire. We've demonstrated that in an actual fire environment, a "90-minute rated" gun safe can reach critical internal temperatures in minutes. Hardened steel components such as bolts and trigger groups begin to degrade around 380°F; at approximately 680°F, annealed steel, including barrels, can lose structural integrity — and fire exposure can render firearms unsafe to shoot even when the damage isn't visible. Traditional fire-rated safes also rely on drywall-based liners and adhesives that contain pyrite and formaldehyde, both corrosive to steel and banned in military armories for that reason. SecureIt safes eliminate these materials entirely.
